Leveling Equipment

Ensuring the coil strip is flat entering the laser module, RDI offers equipment to reduce incoming coil defects.  The type of equipment chosen will be determined by the condition and/or grade of coils purchased and processed.

Leveler

The Leveler unit is designed to flatten the material prior to laser cutting. The material is pulled from the uncoiler unit and fed into the looping pit. Two entry pinch rolls work with an 8 over 9 levelling roll configuration to remove coil defects from incoming coils. Top leveler rolls have motorized adjustment, and have motorized opening for easy cleaning. Tilting of the top roll bank (entry to exit) enables independent adjustment for flattening material. Servo driven entry guides center the incoming strip. Bottom roll bending across roll width achieved via wedge blocks powered via hydraulic motors. Roll penetration and bending displayed on HMI touchscreen.

Flattener

The flattener unit is designed to flatten the material prior to laser cutting. The material is pulled from the uncoiler and fed into the looping pit. Two entry and two exit pinch rolls work with a 5 over 6 flattening roll configuration to remove coil set from incoming coils.  Top and bottom rolls are backed up with individual rolls to reduce roll deflection. Top flattener rolls have motorized vertical adjustment, and have motorized opening for easy cleaning. Tilting of the top roll bank (entry to exit) enables independent adjustment for flattening material.

Straightener

A precision straightener will reduce the material’s incoming coil set for feeding through the system. The straightening unit is designed to pull material from the unwind unit and feed into the laser module. Two entry pinch roll work with a 3 over 4 roll configuration to remove coil set from incoming coils. Top straightener rolls can be adjusted at the machine based on incoming coil condition.
